Extraordinary real life character observation just now in St John’s Wood. Man, late 70s, immaculately dressed. Speaking on phone: ‘Where are you Sir? I can’t see you Sir. I’m on the corner Sir. Can you see me Sir? (Now bouncing in agitation) I can’t FACKING see you Sir!’

Anyone here more familiar with Beth Steel’s body of work than me who can point me towards a monologue suitable for a 45-55 year old male? Ideally 2 mins in length 🙏🏼

I wrote something about my journey from a Leicester council estate into the performing arts on my website. Looking back I’m not quite sure how I managed it. Depressingly, it’s much harder now, adamfrith.com/worshipful-c...

I think Rami Malek really did not deserve the booting he got in The Times and Telegraph culture sections. It’s almost like the critics got off on it. It became more about them. I thought Oedipus at The Old Vic was genuinely FANTASTIC. A shame some may be put off going and miss out.

#Oedipus at the @oldvictheatre.bsky.social is incredible. Visceral, democratised theatre at its finest. Acting, dance, lighting, sound & use of set all packing equally powerful punches. It’s a must see event. Go!

Congratulations to the magnificent Anne-Marie Duff who has been made on OBE for her services to drama. I believe she spent some of her time as a student at Drama Centre being told she wouldn’t amount to much beyond some character parts. Her brilliance has proved them wrong!

1) Back in 2006 I was forced to ‘retire’ from the performing arts because, despite a successful earlier career, I was over £30k in debt with no bank of mum and dad to help bail me out.

Just seen #Conclave. So many brilliant performances. Ralph Fiennes is sensational, but my goodness so is Lucian Msamati. No spoilers, but WHAT a scene between the pair of them!

Up at 6am to turn around a dance self tape. Very fast footwork/choreography. Proud of my 50+ year old legs for still managing it!

We need more empathy. Disabled people are not ‘other’. The majority of able bodied people, should they live long enough shift into becoming disabled. Everyone should care about this.
