This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

True confessions - I remember taking the train to Buzzy's.
there used to be a roast beef joint in downtown Boston bang up against the wall of the county jail where they infamously imprisoned Malcolm X and folks when I say Boston has changed what I mean is not only is the roast beef joint gone but now the jail's a luxury hotel

My fellow Worcesterites, Holy Cross University has allowed an ICE agent, Ryan Vasquez, to attend their upcoming career day in a recruiting capacity. Tell their president what you think of this.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Seven million people came out on No Kings Day, the largest single-day protest in U.S. history, and then followed it up with sweeping every major race on Nov. 4. We did our job in the streets and at the polls. It’d be nice if Democrats in the Senate could get on board.

Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

Call your senators, friends, NOW, and tell them NO DEAL without ACA funding!

The emerging deal will be that Democrats get fuck all and then go on thanksgiving break while 41.7 million people slip into food insecurity.

Fucking hell
Senate Democrats are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the emerging deal. “Stay tuned,” Schumer tells us with a grin.

This has not gotten much attention, but it should.

Virginia under Youngkin returned to an insanely harsh system where people convicted of any felony lose their voting rights FOR LIFE.

Dems' win this week mean they'll get to advance a constitutional amendment to end lifetime disenfranchisement.

Massport covers up ICE activity at Hanscom airfield. See our story at lexingtonalarm.org oversight bodies asked Massport specifically about ICE flights. They denied any knowledge.

Two weeks before they got an official email with the subject “ICE charter flights”. What is Massport hiding.

Let me congratulate @zysaidso.bsky.social for her election to the Charlottesville School Board.

So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

An industrial menhaden fishery out of Virginia is the last of its kind on the Atlantic seaboard. Some say it's decimating a keystone Chesapeake fish with big fallout for other bay species.

But, perhaps thanks to industry political donations, no one can prove it: www.thebanner.com/community/cl...
The little fish at the center of a big debate in the Chesapeake
No one — fisherman, conservationist or scientist — can say for certain how “the most important fish” is really faring in the Chesapeake Bay.
