Epic in structure and themes, #WeaponsMovie will have you sunken in your seat from fear in one moment and laughing on the verge of tears in the next. Its intricately engrossing plot is backed up by a slew of tremendous performances from its ensemble cast. It’s an instant classic.

#TheNakedGun is the best comedy I’ve seen since “Joy Ride.” With its nonstop barrage of jokes, there is something here for everyone no matter what style of humor appeals most to you. Liam Neeson’s committed performance is one of my favorites of 2025. See it with a large crowd.

#Superman  is an exciting, action-packed and unabashedly fun spectacle that wears its heart and hopeful themes on its chest. It’s a movie that leaves you with a smile and inspiration to create some good in the world. I can’t wait to see more stories told in this new DC Universe.

#JurassicWorldRebirth is another disappointing entry in this franchise. Director Gareth Edwards utilizes his deft sense of scale to make the dinos feel larger than life. It’s the paper-thin writing and characters that put the film on a path to extinction in viewers’ minds.

#BringHerBack is an attempt from the Philippous at something more serious in tone and themes that often doesn’t measure up to its lofty ideas. The relationship between its central characters explores the complexities of grief better than the underdeveloped supernatural premise.

#FightorFlight is the most fun I’ve had at the movies this year. It takes a cliche action premise and pumps it full of frenetic violence and a vicious sense of humor. Josh Hartnett embodies a complex action hero that I’d love to see more of in the future. See it with a crowd!

#Thunderbolts is a return to form for Marvel, not just from a quality perspective, but it’s the first project in quite some time that you can actually feel that the heart is there. Excellent character growth, well-constructed set pieces, and more make this entry a well-earned win

#Sinners is a generational event. A brilliantly original blend of genres, styles, and culture that contextualizes a story that would remain engrossing even if the genre aspects were completely removed. Ryan Coogler provides the type of rare movie magic that we’ve been begging for

Happy #Oscars week! Now that I’ve finally seen #ImStillHere, I can finally reveal my rankings of this year’s #BestPicture 10. Pretty strong crop of films this year, but not on the same level as the last couple years for me personally, overall.

The best part about Awards Season is the conversation it provides film lovers to take part in, especially in the imminent lead-up to the Oscars. Listen to @therollingtape.bsky.social’s final predictions episode to understand why it may be my favorite Oscars prediction conversation yet.

God, I hate A24 for what they did to “Sing Sing,” a movie I still haven’t seen.

As a body horror monster movie, I thought #WolfMan knocked it out of the park with gruesome makeup work and creatively frightening sequences. The character work is what left me disappointed and makes this remake pale in comparison to director Leigh Whannell’s previous efforts.

I am not okay, what the fuck is going on?
January 19, 2025 at 6:26 AM
Quite crazy how we just can’t manage to not fail as a society for one fucking second.
January 19, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Imma feel a certain type of way if “The Brutalist” doesn’t win Best Picture because voters didn’t feel like it was worth their time to actually watch it.
