Bad news days for AI and everyone who slops it. 'If your incredible business idea – key word here, business – is to bake cakes for sale and then you complain that you have to pay for eggs and flour then I have some terrible news about your business idea and also quite possibly your soul and brain.'
'One of the proposed solutions to the fact that these AI companies are already stealing the work of creatives, writers and artists is not to wonder – not even performatively – about how to protect the output of the creators but to suggest formalising the theft'. rick-morton.ghost.io/crumbs-at-th...
Crumbs at the Slophouse
There was a man at the ice creamery the other day and I cannot stop thinking about him. He looked about 50. No family in tow, indeed no other travelling friends or acquaintances in sight. From his pe...

There is literally no other people in the world that this would happen to daily for months and months on end, and that the international community wouldn't do something about it.

Israel is a rogue state, utterly out of control, and is enabled by the USA (in particular) and other western nations.

So let me get this straight... Israel lost their great reputation by bombing, starving and massacring untold numbers of muslims for over 20 months non-stop, and they're going to fix this reputation by... *checks notes* ... bombing and massacring untold other muslims? I see.
Australia's media just salivates over the slaughter of Muslims.

Apparently, killing Iranians will make up for killing Gazans.

What the Liberals do next is important to them & irrelevant to Australia. ALP has a big majority in the House, and with the Greens have a majority in the Senate. The Liberals are a minor party in waiting

It’s time to crack on and get big stuff done. My column

Nothing stands the way of Labor and ambitious, progressive reform
The big question now is whether the second term Labor government will make the big changes that Australians clearly want and need.

This is some genuinely dystopian shit
Trump: "We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're gonna put a price on that card of about $5 million and that's going to give you green card privileges, plus. It's gonna be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country."

No nation state is above criticism. You can criticise Israel's actions and policies without it being anti-semitic. It does not make Jewish people safer by conflating criticism of Israel with anti-semitism.

CSIRO puts out its GenCost report on electricity costs annually. The Coalition and nuclear advocates have attacked it. CSIRO went back to the data and looked at the criticisms for its latest draft report. Concluded the criticisms don’t stack up. Explained why.
