The next TrickyLUG challenge is a food build!

Many will be celebrating Thanksgiving in a few weeks, so tempt us with something tasty, treat us to something scrumptious, or push the boundaries on what's edible in this month's challenge!

Can't make it in-person to a No Kings protest? Here are 2 alternatives:
1) Write/send letters to voters in consequential elections via @votefwd.bsky.social - votefwd.org/campaigns
2) Attend a virtual #NoKings rally via Zoom, organized by @rubyslippahs.bsky.social - www.mobilize.us/nokings/even...

Our next Zoom meeting will be Nov. 1st, which is National Bison Day and National Cook for Your Pets Day.

So build an animal-themed MOC* and share it in our Discord or live on the Zoom call! Any animal, any scale, just get building and join in the fun!

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a way to communicate without talking, like using a letter board or typing on an iPad. We want AAC available for anyone who needs it, and for autistic people to be supported to communicate in the way that works best for us.

Und manchmal,
wenn ich allein durch die Straßen gehe,
höre ich dein Lied im Kopf,
und lächle.
Nicht aus Trauer,
sondern weil es schön war.

Du warst kein Anfang
und kein Ende.
Du warst ein Stück Glück,
das bleibt,
weil ich es erinnere.

May, our smallest and oldest cat, who has no claws and few teeth, killed a cricket that somehow got in the house!
I didn't let her eat it, but gave her treats instead.

49% of COVID infections are asymptomatic according to Yale School of Public Health.

Yale advises layered protection: N95 masks, HEPA filters, good ventilation, vaccines, rapid tests and wastewater monitoring.

Tom is out of surgery & everything went just about as well as can be expected!
He's having some minor signs of Horner's Syndrome, which is not unexpected &, hopefully, temporary. Otherwise he's doing great & should be able to come home tomorrow!
Pic from our trip down yesterday.

Please send well-wishes to General Tom Foolery as he heads off to the vet specialists at the teaching hospital again. He has surgery again tomorrow on his ear.

even if you don't give a shit about covid you should want clean indoor air in schools/public buildings because getting sick more often is a huge economic hit. it literally costs the economy exponentially more money to *not* filter the air

but maybe that pragmatic argument is too reasonable

Every time a patient tells me they have to quit their job or they will make slightly more than the medicaid cutoff this year and would then be bankrupted by healthcare costs, a part of me dies. What a fucked up country.

For-profit healthcare is a crime against humanity. #MedicareForAll

The Danes Resisted Fascism, and So Can We
Danish resistance didn’t arrive all at once during World War II. But taken as a whole, the Danes’ actions are a testament to what’s possible when we work together to fight fascism.

The next TrickyLug meeting will be 9/6, which is "National Read a Book Day" in the US, so we challenge you to build something book-related!

Build a scene from your local library, a pop-up book, a pair of bookends, a mosaic of your favorite book cover, or whatever book-related thing inspires you!

General Tom Foolery has to go back to the specialist vets again. His ear looks very infected, but our regular vet can't see any bacteria or yeast or anything that would be causing it.

The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that private citizens have no standing to sue for disability-based violations of the Voting Rights Act—the landmark federal statute that protects, among other things, the right to voting assistance for disabled people.
Voters can't sue for disability discrimination, court rules
The conservative Eighth Circuit restricted voting rights enforcement to state officials—even in notoriously anti-voter states.

this part's fun: in reality the coders were 19% slower, but before the test predicted they'd be 24% faster. After the test they still believed they were about 20% faster.

Apep's prognosis was way worse than we hoped. We chose to say goodbye today.

During our six hour visit to the emergency vet, we chatted with several people in the waiting room and one 6yo made Apep some fanart. ❤️

Please send whatever prayers/thoughts/good vibes you can to my pet snake, Apep, please. He lost his left eye recently and his other eye last night in a much more traumatic way than the first one. Only vet that can see him today is the emergency vet an hour away. 😔
