i once spent six or eight weeks in a seemingly non-stop whatsapp conversation trying to get another parent to stop trying to divide a soccer team of six year olds into A and B teams
One thing I wasn’t prepared for as a parent was how much time I’d have to spend triaging damage done indirectly by other kids’ shitty parents.

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

not to be too much of a downer but as someone who lives in a place where we have the northern lights pretty regularly: all of the photos you see on social media are not at all how they look to the naked eye

Påståendet från Edholm är falskt. Det finns inga bevis för att det finns en meningsfull mängd invandrare som inte pratar svenska.
Nästan alla invandrare i Sverige kan jättebra/flytande svenska efter flera år. De enda undantagen jag känner till är äldre personer och folk som jobbar på engelska

Påståendet från Edholm är falskt. Det finns inga bevis för att det finns en meningsfull mängd invandrare som inte pratar svenska.
Nästan alla invandrare i Sverige kan jättebra/flytande svenska efter flera år. De enda undantagen jag känner till är äldre personer och folk som jobbar på engelska

activists used to be exposed to this sort of thing when i worked in yanukovych-era ukraine. however, we could never trace it back to an oligarch or party flack, apparently because the social stigma against the character assassination of private citizens was stronger there than it is sweden

my fav example of how awful legalized gambling is is finnish soccer, which has regular problems with match-fixing, human trafficking (!), and organized scams because they play games outside the standard fifa schedule and therefore provide soccer to bet on year-round for the world's gambling addicts

lesson for a lot of countries - i have been to major political party meetings in stockholm, for example, where attendance barely cracks the double digits and half the room is well over 65
ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections
