It's really fucking frustrating how much documentation for an AI agent is just fucking wrong because it was written by an AI and never double checked by a human.

It's annoying that MCP oauth mandates dynamic client registration. They should allow you to supply a client id and secret like everyone else.

openapi would be a lot less insufferable if they just allowed the $ref tag wherever you wanted.

Today claude code told me "You're right" instead of "You're absolutely right!" and now I'm worried that I may not have been right.

Coding agents have really improved my self esteem. It used to be that I'd get mad at myself when I couldn't get my code to work. Now I get mad at the computer when it can't get my code to work.

TIL that using rack middleware on the controller instantiates the middleware class on every dispatch while doing so on the app level does it once during configuration. This can cause bugs on some middleware when you try to isolate them on the controller level.

I think if there is one thing I've learned, but still somehow forget from time to time when coding is, it's better to be wrong and consistent than have several competing standards of correct.

I added a claude hook that runs rubocop on ruby files. It is fucking failing and claude is just ignoring it. What the fuck is the point of these fucking hooks again?

I kinda wish github URLS for grabbing a line number defaulted to the permalinks and just have a way of telling you when you are viewing an outdated SHA.

I guess what really rubs me the wrong way about LLMs for coding is that it's yet another tool I have to wait on to finish before I can do something.

AI is like violence: if it doesn’t solve your problem that’s because you’re not using enough of it.

I've been using Git since it was invented and "yours" and "theirs" might as well be "hnunch" and "grwinf" for all they make sense to me as names for "the branch I'm rebasing main" and "the I'm rebasing *onto*". I have to look at the contents every. single. time. to figure out which one means which.

When LLMs provide accurate results, it’s because the information was already so readily available.
I've seen this post come up several times in my feed and each time, grown frustrated by all of the "Um, actually..." replies. Whether or not these models perform a web search before generating text does not change the fundamental problem Leckie is getting at here.
