The implications of the US's new AI policy are clear, turn your LLM into MechaHitler or lose govt contracts. Anthropic, Google, X, and OpenAI all recently "won" $200m DoD contracts. And I'm pretty sure Meta isn't taking a stand anytime soon, given that they refused to sign the EU's new AI agreement.

This article is mostly generic AI Arms Race propaganda. However, I thought this was a particularly funny gem. "Their bombs are bad and for killing people but our bombs are good and save lives."

"I have no mouth and I must scream"

"I'm sorry about that. That's my bad. I guess--when I sewed your mouth closed--I forgot to add a way for you to communicate your thoughts. Oh well. I promise I'll do better next time."

What does OpenAI and Sam Altman's "Gentle Singularity" look like in practice? Great rundown from @bcmerchant.bsky.social:
• Fund raising from Saudi Arabia and UAE
• Major partnerships with US military
• Working with fossil fuel companies to hyperscale AI www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/this-is-th...
This is the gentle singularity?
Sam Altman says the AI utopia is already here — in a manifesto aimed at raising money from the Saudis. On the real vs imagined manifestations of modern AI.

the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

I like ground news a lot but the blind spot thing is hilarious. The right wing blind spots will be like some executive order and all the sources are high factuality while the left blind spots are Alex Jones quotes or some fake study paid for by the Koch brothers.
