I know games media now is like 12 people barely making a living, but it still saddens me there was zero buzz around this... As far as I could tell, on Reddit & forums too no one cared.

Something really fucked up for video game media just happened... BKinG, the "NoClip of China", got his YT channel deleted twice and gave up on YouTube.
His channel had dozens of documentaries on the development of all sorts of important Chinese & Taiwanese games - all posted with English subtitles.

the past six months have been the equivalent of the “one week war” and we are approaching a “zeon is exhausted!” moment, i think
it isn’t and they know it which is why 1) they are rushing to do 4+ years worth of harm before the midterms, fully expecting to lose Congress but just hoping the damage is irreversible by then; 2) they are doing mostly small-scale symbolic horrors to intimidate the public, due to limited capacity
we are still under the six month mark for a couple weeks and it is incredibly difficult to see how this is sustainable for 3.5 more years

A slot machine where you're zapped out of the flow state and are forced to go for a walk is gonna lose most of its power as a compulsion device. Similarly, permadeath structures with no metaprogression create similar sorta "jolts" for players (though not always!) and offer a convenient off ramp
