I am not entirely certain why my child is coming home saying that next week they will be doing their 3rd lot of mock SATs this year (primary school)

Why has a system been created, with accountability so high, that primary schools are doing this?

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.
