Trump Day One executive order is an illegal deferral under the Impoundment Control Act.
It also seems as though Trump is (accidentally? purposefully?) demanding the US break its contracts for funding that has been obligated but not yet outlaid in saying no funds shall be disbursed.

I suspect that a great many of his recent statements are all smokescreens - get people outraged about the absurd things (such as taking over Greenland, taking back the Panama canal, ending birthright citizenship, and so many others) so that he can slide by the ones that are merely appalling.
Talk of rescinding birthright citizenship is just that: Talk.
Presidents can't rescind it, because the Constitution expressly guarantees it. The Constitution's text reflects a basic American principle: Being born here comes with citizenship. Any executive order won't survive the court fights.

I suspect that a great many of his recent statements are all smokescreens - get people outraged about the absurd things (such as taking over Greenland, taking back the Panama canal, ending birthright citizenship, and so many others) so that he can slide by the ones that are merely appalling.
