PhD candidate at University of Utah. Studying pain, perception, emotion, & quantitative psychology. Variance obsessed Bayesian nerd, fascinated by dynamics/change over time. The mean is overrated. Opinions (& typos) are my own.

If you are at SAA and interested in moving beyond modeling means and variances in your ambulatory assessment data, come see our symposium on modeling dynamics in health and psychology data today at 1 pm in MTC1 02.13! #SAA2025

Call your senators! As a Utahn you can call (202)224-5251 for John Curtis and (202)224-5444 for Mike Lee. I called and talked about my involvement in clinical trials for chronic pain, and how NIH disruptions can impact treatment options for a condition that impacts 30% of Americans.
Scientists in Utah, Alaska, Kentucky, Maine, Iowa, North Dakota - your voices are critical because your republican senators are the most likely to buck Trump. They need to hear your stories. 1) contact senator 2) tag local reporters (Google Bluesky reporters in your state) 3) organize colleagues…

How should we quantify variability in pain, fatigue, emotional distress, and other chronic pain symptoms? Mixed effects location scale modeling (MELS) is one way that is accessible and better than the iSD! Come see my 3:15 pm poster (505) at IASP to learn more.

Possibly unpopular opinion, but winter trail running beats summer trail running any day in my book!

Still doesn't feel real! Excited to get started on my dissertation (proposal scheduled for 1/18/24) on modeling pain variability in patients with fibromyalgia, that looks like it will now have funding from NIAMS.
