Hmm, an award-winning work of nature writing (from 2023) speculating that Woolf might not have walked into the River Ouse had she just waited a few more weeks for spring. "Nature cure" at its most extreme.

The saddest, one-eyed, not-really-a-great-auk at Leeds Discovery Centre last week. The gold paint streaks on the beak to indicate ridges suggest a taxidermist giving up.

So, after a temporary (15-year!) absence, we returned National Museums Scotland's mount of the #extinct Great Auk to the public exhibition (Early People/Beginnings, basement floor Scotland galleries) today! Have you had a two-bodyguard taxi ride in a custom-built case? 😉
