Enig, bestemt!

Tuomas Kuhmonen tutki väitöskirjassaan yhteiskunnan monimutkaisten ruoka-, energia-, liikkumis- ja yhdyskuntajärjestelmien vaihtoehtoisten tulevaisuuksien ennakointia.

Näiden järjestelmien mahdollisten tulevaisuuksien ennakointi on hänen mukaansa kriittisen tärkeää.

It's such a heartwarming tale to read, and especially to learn that Noah heroically made his flight from Heathrow to Paris by jumping several lines.

If he had been missed it, God knows how long he'd had to wait for the next flight between those two particular cities? At least 20 minutes, for sure.

It's a remarkable trajectory, since Paris in 2015, but especially since Copenhagen in 2009.

The US and increasingly Europe have washed their hands of a catastrophe of their own making.

And the Rest is solving it for themselves with investment and tech from China.
Others publishing houses are a bit beta, but Penguin, my man, that's all alpha!

(Seriously, why does he specify the modern publishing house of a thousand of years old book that he is listening too as an audiobook anyway?)

One of the reasons why Finland is the happiest country in the world is that the public broadcaster Yle sends a live feed of the first 8 weeks of a pack of puppies every fall. It’s already the fifth edition of ”Finland’s most therapeutic live feed”.

This is what I call value for my tax money

FWIW, the Danish People's Party, like Reform, is now significantly to the right of their own 2015-2019 position.

Which also means that it would be a lot more costly for the Social Democrats/Labour to emulate their policies wholesale today, compared to the period in which that strategy *did* work.
He's just reading the graph wrongly, I think. I think he's somewhat off on what he's implying about the Danish case, but the general point - that nothing suggests that this would transfer to Labour succes in the UK - is probably dead-on.
They didn't come anywhere near 35% in 2009. They hit 35% during March 2020, e.g. in the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.

There was always bound to be a regression to the mean (see: basically all similar countries, with similar effects), although the downfall is perhaps larger than expected.

Incredible; I can't believe this really happened. The books are going to be Theranos-level bonkers.

"Several former Neom employees likened the working culture to the atmosphere in Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Emperor’s New Clothes."
Internering i lejre? Stormløb på moskeer?

Altså, hvad er planen?

The haters said they couldn't do it. And they were right. Honestly, great call from the haters.
NEW: The End of the Line: the centrepiece of Saudi Arabia’s Neom gigaproject - a 500m tall, 170km long wall-like building intended ultimately to house 9 million people - can’t get out of the ground, say more than 20 former Neom architects, engineers and senior executives.

Ritt, Løkke, Fogh kan nok skrives på listen over politikere. Ulf blandt entertainerne.

Plus de kongelige, fx Margrethe, Frederik, Mary, Joachim, Alexandra.

I'm not saying November is a grey month here in Finland. But it is a pretty grey month here in Finland.
Weather forecast in Finland: “We may see the sun this week.” Maybe on Thursday.
Threatening visa revocations for diplomats' personal *family* members, if the diplomats vote according to their countries' interests. Nice one, US administration.

And on top, doing it to throw maximum pressure against international climate change cooperation.
Earlier this year, @empirepoduk.bsky.social did a whole series on the history of Ireland featuring (among other great guests) both this (⬆️) book's author Fintan O'Toole and Patrick Radden Keefe, who wrote Say Nothing (also referenced in this thread, and also excellent).

Absolutely worth a listen!
