If religion was deemed the "opium of the masses" of the 19th century, nationalism has become the new religion of the 21st century. A shield to hide under in this race for validation and moral authority for agitators of dubious backgrounds. Great reporting by the folks at @manchestermill.bsky.social

It's a journalist's job to ask questions of government officials, no matter which party is in power. That often means respectfully knocking on doors to get answers people deserve to know.

Autocratic and authoritarian governments are fragile in their essence. Perceiving such weak institutions as rigid, powerful and endless is nothing but an act of laziness and cowardice
The Third Reich didn't last 1,000 years.

Pinochet was ousted with a referendum.

And the US isn't exactly dealing with the smartest, most competent fascists.

My reaction every single time a pedestrian yells at me because I can’t bike on the road with cars driving at 25 mph and need to take a safer route on the sidewalk
if you are mad at people on bikes because they are biking where you're walking, you are almost certainly actually mad at cars
So expand the lanes! The problem is bikes and pedestrians fighting over like 12% of street space when the vast majority is dedicated to cars
