This guy was so much better than Bill Nye.

Having been forced to watch "the Science Guy" in middle school science classes, I already had a distaste for him. Then when he started weighing in on food chemistry with an engineering degree, I turned him off completely.

Go watch Beakman. 🧪
I don't know who needs to hear this, but all four seasons of Beakman's World are on Tubi.

One of the best science shows for kids ever produced and one that definitely should be mentioned alongside Mr. Wizard, 3-2-1 Contact, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Beakman's World
A slightly nutty, always inquisitive scientist leads a journey of discovery while performing experiments that demonstrate how the world works.

It's Vet Day (no not that kind of vet, sorry), and I'm freaking out a bit. Honestly I'm scared the bill is going to be more than I have in the bank right now. Please read & repost if you are a cat lover... 🙏🐈

It never ceases to amaze me how mad people can be at things they don't understand.

The term "farmer" does not apply to one type or political party. Organic growers, environmentalist, and those concerned with animal welfare are all "farmers" by definition. Please stop lumping everyone in together.
By "aid for farmers", what they really mean is the ones that never did support this administration, and are waiting on payments for conservation, community food projects, and other "democrat interests".

Row crop MAGA farmers never did want aid.

Understand who is really getting screwed, mkay?

May not have much to post in the next few weeks, as I'm busy at work and home trying to wrap up the season.

Also, looks like we too have been dinged by the shutdown. No CRP payments going out right now, from what I've seen. That's 1/3 of our annual income. 😢

Help if you can:

Pleased to see the Heavenly Blue Morning Glories come up, but the cold has turned them purple! 😮

The pink flower in the back is actually the purple ones.

Nature does fascinating things! 🌱

The other blue pumpkin* we got today sitting with the decorative gourds from our garden 🤭🎃🌱

*I believe these are called Jarrahdale Pumpkins.

Went to the pumpkin patch today. All these came home with me, except the litte decorative gourd in the middle that looks like a duck - that one we grew ourselves. He needed some big friends! 🤭😁🌱🎃

I picked a watermelon today. 19lbs. 🌱🍉😮

Haven't had a chance to take new pictures, but this was from a month ago. Pretty sure it's full grown now and I can go pick it! Here's hoping, because the temps are starting to drop finally. 🌱🍉

I remember now, because I've looked this up before.

Bacteria is not killed by freezing.

So putting nasty things in the freezer is essentially sticking bacteria on your food, that you plan to thaw, and eventually cook I hope, but HELLO THAT'S FUCKING GROSS PLEASE STOP 😭😭
Anyone have a legit source for food safety information and why we should not be storing garbage that smells in a freezer with food?*

* Things I should not have to teach my mother when I'm in my 40s, but here we are.

I know this is a bad idea. I cannot get it through her head though. I need facts.

It started out pure white. I thought it might turn pink or orange. But no, it turned...green 🤔🌱🎃

So this gourd vine crawled up the side of the greenhouse and into the open part. (Pictured)

I look out the window beyond as I'm picking it, and see two more gourds hanging from the tree right outside. I have no idea how to get to them or get them down. 🌱🤣

Still blooming in the basement. I think I brought this home last fall. 🌱🥰

Lots of cherry tomatoes, some Cherokee purple, two little zebras, and that one Hungarian Heart.

Also found a few cucumbers in the greenhouse today. 🥒💚

Can't complain 🌱🍅😎
