Happy Birthday to a mighty book.
Happy Birthday to Ghost Town, 5 years old today - a bumpy start just as the pandemic kicked in but it did ok! Thank you to everyone who read it, reviewed it, got in touch to talk about it. Above all, thanks to the mighty @littletollerbooks.bsky.social who made it happen. X

Been picture researching all day for our forthcoming edition of Jan Morris's A Venetian Bestiary. What an education and a privilege to have spent the day amongst Venice's basilica's, streets and art galleries. It's going to a be a lovely book this.

For US readers unfamiliar with @littletollerbooks.bsky.social, they are an independent publisher based in Dorset and focused on nature writing, including fresh editions of many classics, like this favorite of mine from 1973: www.littletoller.co.uk/shop/books/l...
The Unofficial Countryside by Richard Mabey, Little Toller Books
Richard Mabey's discovery of nature in the most unexpected places: city docks, overgrown bomb sites, car parks and canals. Introduction by Iain Sinclair.

Absolutely over the moon that Wild Twin has been shortlisted for the Edward Stanford Travel book of the year.

I am beyond proud of @wildtwin.bsky.social for writing in such exquisite lyrical prose about a life that has been truly lived.

What a stellar shortlist @stanfordstravel.bsky.social

For those of you on instagram Horatio has written beautifully today on the slender-billed curlew. We have also posted something. Do have a read.
We know now that there is a 99.6% chance that the slender-billed curlew will never be seen again. Today it has been declared extinct.

In 2015 we published a wonderfully hopeful book on the plight of this bird written with great beauty by Horatio Clare.

Put Orison for a Curlew on your TBR list.
