Glacial melting has accelerated by 36% since 2000, driving sea level rise and a substantial loss of regional freshwater, new research shows.

“Overall, the going trend is that we are losing our glaciated regions, and it is happening faster and faster,” Brian Sutterley, one of the authors, said.

Carbon capture can have an enormous impact on local ecosystems, for good or bad.

Reforestation may be the way to go to boost biodiversity and sequester carbon, per a new study.
Reforestation Boosts Biodiversity Where Other Carbon Capture Methods Fall Short, Study Finds - EcoWatch

Recent policies from the EPA would lower emissions and force an early retirement of most U.S. coal plants, speeding up the transition away from fossil fuels with limited cost, a new study shows.

However, whether those rules will stay intact during an upcoming Trump administration is doubtful.

Ocean temps reached record highs in 2024.

Lijing Cheng, the lead author, told me that even if we manage to meet the Paris agreement, “Climate change mitigation and adaptation need to continue” because ocean heating is a delayed response.

About 90% of Earth’s excess heat is stored in the oceans.
