Gosh the fires happening in California are heart breaking.

Climate change isn't just statistics & graphs. People are losing their lives & people's worlds are being turned upside down.

How is humanity sitting back & letting this happen?

1. A federal transgender sports ban may be heard as early as Tuesday in the House.

Sources tell EITM that the vote on a Senate filibuster is expected to be "close," with some Dems capitulating.

The ban could apply to dancing, darts, and even chess.

Federal Trans Sports Ban Down To The Wire: House Action Tuesday, Senate "Close"
The national ban on transgender sports is expected to come down to the wire in the Senate, and could lead to crackdowns on transgender people nationwide.

Let’s be clear: the specific targeted removal of moderation of hate speech from Meta platforms for LGBTQ people (not that they did much to begin with) is a strategic move to further dehumanize us. 1/
Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.

The oligarchs may believe they can control it but they cannot and I believe society in the US is reaching a fundamental breaking point where the social contract is being shredded in the name of endless wealth and power. Eventually, there will be a violent reaction and it's something no one wants.

2024 was a historically difficult year for transgender people, but it was not without its victories. I list over 60 victories for transgender people this year.

There is a case for hope, and the fight for transgender rights is not without wins.

1. Today, 81 Democrats voted for the NDAA, which pulls care from the trans kids of military service members, in what is seen as a betrayal of trans people by the Democratic party.

EITM has published a full, easy to read list of their names, and how to contact.

81 Democrats have voted for the NDAA bill, which has an anti-trans amendment pulling care from trans youth enrolled in TriCare, the first national anti-trans bill of the modern era.

To my trans family today: take care of yourself. 🫂 Step away from social media if you need it. I will likely be doing the same now that I’ve caught up on the oral arguments.

For anyone not aware, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Skrmetti v. US - litigating the legality of gender affirming care bans for minors. This is a landmark case for trans rights.

I highly recommend this thread covering the arguments.

First question is from Justice Thomas asks why it's not an age based classification rather than sex based classification.

Seems really clear that the conservative majority is drawing up a broad decision that would say it's not sex based classification and that trans people do not meet quasi suspect class status. I can't tell you just how bad it would be. It would fully greenlight draconian laws.

Currently doing research for my History of Christianity and Social Change final and I am so fascinated by the trans/gender-transgressive saints!

I may be turning this project into a future workshop for TMC so stay tuned!

This bill wouldn’t just affect trans Americans. Mace is targeting trans folks (especially trans women) but this opens up policing of anyone who doesn’t conform to white, cishet norms of gender.
