If you want a weird but true fact to talk about:

Dexter Holland, lead singer of The Offspring, was instrumental in this. His doctorial thesis in molecular biology was sequencing mRNA in HIV. The paper was also heavily cited in creating the COVID-19 vaccine.
It feels like we should be making a bigger deal of “we actually did in fact find a cure for AIDS”

Evidence is growing that some HIV-infected infants, if given antiretroviral drugs early in life, are able to suppress their viral loads to undetectable levels and then come off the medicine. www.wired.com/story/the-fi...

Mayhem returns this autumn and you can now buy an Early Bird Pass for a limited time. We've also announced our first 3 titles, including Marc Price's THE ARBITER and Dawid Torrone's DEAD BY DAWN.

We've also announced CHESS OF THE WIND and I can't express how absolutely excited I am to be presenting this film as part of the festival. It is unmissable.
Finally, we will be presenting a screening of Mohammad Reza Aslani’s 1976 CHESS OF THE WIND. Greed, deception and violence are at the heart of this gorgeous Gothic Iranian masterpiece once banned in Iran and presumed lost for many years.

Turned 38 this weekend. Ate cake. Drank cocktails. Shouted at the TV during Eurovision. Witnessed shop lifting in the local shop. A standard birthday.

Do I know anyone in the UK who's recently had a quad or one-sheet poster professionally framed with UV protection? Trying to get a very rough idea of pricing.

Listen, I know the sector is struggling but advertising a Marketing *Manager* position at £26k - pro-data may I add - is absolutely criminal.

I thought nothing could make me want to watch this film less than its mere existence, but I guess I was wrong.

This is an excellent, excellent read.
I've written a new short horror story. It’s set in the 90s, it’s all about cinema-going, and It takes the form of a Letterboxd account. If you want to read it, you can start here, with this bio:

I'm introducing Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson's RUMOURS at Broadway Nottingham on Thursday. Come along if you're in the mood for a slice of absurd political satire featuring the undead, Cate Blanchett and a man handing out cold meats from his pocket broadway.org.uk/whats-on/rum...

Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson’s latest star-laden feature riffs on the inefficiency of political summits, deftly mixing genres to deliver a riotously hilarious satire.

I don't know where those 5-star reviews of Ripley are coming from because episode 1 is awful and absolutely maddening. I don't think I'm even going to bother with the rest. I've seen enough.
