Not often I see a new (to me) bird at the feeder. A quick little Kinglet. Grabbed some suet before being chased away by a Titmouse. 🪶

Just got through reading “The Fate of the Day” by Rick Atkinson”,part of a history of the American Revolution.As they tore through the Carolinas, the Hessians were in wonder of the wildlife. They called Northern Cardinals “Virginia Nightingales” for which English ladies would pay 6 Guineas apiece. 🪶

This large spooky moth appeared in the wee hours last night feeding at my hummingbird feeder. I think it is a hummingbird hawk-moth. I’ve never seen one before. It’s about as big as a hummingbird and its proboscis looks to be about 4 inches long.
