3rd Shift Railroader • Law School Midlife Crisis • Stupidity is nonpartisan • Don't vote for idiots
Pinned
Absolutely wild that there are folks out there (on this site, even) that, in the midst of this otherworldly shit show we're all experiencing, are still trying to justify not voting for Kamala because she campaigned with Liz Cheney.
Not Richard Freer of Barbri Civil Procedure video fame just putting out there that the lowest grade he ever got was in Professional Responsibility.

"Not my lowest grade in law school. My lowest grade IN LIFE."

Sir. 🤣

Typing up the Torts notes too quickly.

Re: Products Liability case...

"...anchored in the Second Amendment..."
Wait, WHAT?

"Second Restatement"
That makes more sense. 🤦‍♀️😂

The way my heart sank when I formatted this memo and realized I needed to cut SIX PAGES.

I briefly considered writing an addendum and citing to it as an unpublished opinion. ...but that's ... ridiculousness inspired by desperation.

Due in 3 hours.
Says A LOT LESS now.
...but it's DONE. 🙌😭

Went to the bathroom at work. Looked in the mirror.

I LOOK like it's been memo week 🤦‍♀️

I'm so close, though.
One more counter argument/response, wrap up conclusions, then a day of editing.

Gave up on "concomitance"
Turns out it's also some kind of reference to the Eucharist.
Could do without that.

I'm going to get fired.

I don't work for Target, but this trend is untenable.

Moreover, as a customer, I'd rather just be left alone, thanks.
Required smiling makes us all uncomfortable.

I often wonder if this is policy for our local Metroparks workers. They ALWAYS wave. I don't trust it. 😂
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Daily Goal: Work the word 'concomitantly' into this godforsaken memo

Civ Pro prof thought he'd keep us from finding out he wrote the supplemental reading he provided by keeping his name off it.

Sir.

Issue = Factual Dispute
"Concomitantly" = Georgetown for "Simultaneously"

Taking notes on the case summaries I've written for my memo in order to build the analysis section.

Thinking about the kid that gave me shit many MANY years ago, in MIDDLE SCHOOL, about reading something I had just written.

Wonder what he's up to these days.

Sacrificed the potential for a 6-hour marathon memo writing session for 4 hours of sleep.

THE CORRECT CHOICE WAS MADE

My mind is so much sharper and the writing is coming so much easier… 🙌🏻😭

Torts Prof: How do we know that we need to consider the evidence in the light most favorable to the nonmoving party?

Me: BECAUSE CIV PRO PROF SAID SO

Look, no one is PROUD of this response, but it remains factually accurate

Civ Pro prof spent 20 minutes on negligence today
My life is a mess 🤷‍♀️

As I'm going through my notes, I find that I would like to know who organized the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure [don't say the Advisory Committee, I repudiate that response], and, as Torts professor likes to inquire about illogical things generally, how much alcohol was involved.

Oh, sweet @lizcheney.bsky.social, my heart breaks for you.

He was even more problematic than you are, but you are the reason I'm sitting here reading this breaking news in the library of the College of Law.

I know how much you loved him.
I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

There was defacing of the flyers for the LGBTQ Student Org's Drag Show

Asst. Dean sends out an email condemning this

Student org president responds to entire student body "You all probably saw the Dean's email..." and spelled the Dean's name wrong...

Please do better. 🤦‍♀️🙄

Coworker WILL NOT shut up and let me read.

He’s going on about the Cumberland Gap.

Sir, I DO NOT CARE.

Took me 3 hours to get through 5 pages.
Then told to read Rule 68.
Happened to see Rule 69.

I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS A CIVIL OPTION 🤣🤣

"Defendants have contemporaneously filed their Motion to Exceed the page limits..."

Feel strongly that court in Burnett case regards defendants the same way my professors view me when I'm ... being me.

SHUT UP
GO AWAY

"It's only because I'm paid to be here..."

"The photograph attached as Exhibit 3 is not difficult to understand; it is perfectly understood for what it is—a discovery violation."

Burnett case illustrating what I would like to do with a law degree - write sassy motions for sanctions.

Me: What is a motion in limine?

AI Civ Pro prof: A motion in limine is a pretrial motion that asks a judge to rule on the admissibility of certain evidence before a trial begins

Me: Are the Federal Rules squishy?

AI Civ Pro prof: Squishy is not a legal term.

That didn't last long.
Thief of joy.
October 28, 2025 at 12:59 AM
Quimbee: What is a motion to strike?

Me: Get rid of that shit.

Quimbee: A motion to strike asks the court to remove from a pleading any insufficient defense or any material that is redundant, immaterial, impertinent, or scandalous.

Me: Like I said...

Torts professor was 🔥 today, too.

Law school as performance art.

I cannot express the value in the ability to make students laugh while simultaneously pointing out that they didn’t grasp even HALF the case when they read it on their own.

Outrageous talent.

Discussing Scott v. Harris in Civ Pro

SCOTUS is all "this video record demonstrates there's no genuine dispute of material fact" ...juries? Never heard of her.

Student makes a comment about AI and how we don't even know what's real anymore

Professor: I CANNOT

🤣🤣🤣

It's Saturday and I'm typing up my Torts notes from Wednesday.

I'm fine with "Cows don't vote" and "Residential Emu" ... but for the life of me I can't remember what "Stay away from monkey farm" refers to.
