Courtney Milan establishing GOAT status one email newsletter reply at a time.
I don’t normally reply to my hate mail, but I did respond to this with “how on earth did you only just notice?!?!”

(I don’t get much hate mail from my newsletter; I think this is only the second one.)

Planning out a semester of Historical Romance reads for Romancelandia University is the most fun I have with reading! @veryromance.bsky.social @yourbookishbff.bsky.social are the best headmistresses, and I'm excited to celebrate queer books this session! #booksky

Finished binge-reading Laura Lee Guhrke's series Dear Lady Truelove. What absolutely excellent historical romance writing. Highly recommend, especially books 1 and 3. #booksky

Turns out I'm maybe ok with a love triangle if the main characters are not teenagers and the book is written in 3rd person? Isabella by Loretta Chase, published in 1987, is a traditional regency with Chase's signature fun feel. #booksky

A stunning lyrical novella; a fairy tale recrafted; a traditional murder ballad with a queer twist. A Magic system built on GRAMMAR! It feeds my soul.

The book: The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar. Out 3/4/25 from Tordotcom. #booksky

Sometimes, you want to reach for a steadfast author in your favorite genre. And then sometimes that author astounds you (with the 3rd act breakup, no less!): The Truth About Love and Dukes by Laura Lee Guhrke. #booksky

I loved Someone You Can Build a Nest In, and this one looks just as good! #booksky
Unveiling the official U.S. cover for WEARING THE LION! My next book, about the messy relationship between Hera and Heracles.

So glad to finally share this with y'all. I love its striking colors, and the creatures it hints at--each is a huge part of the book. The art is by Adam Auerbach! #BookSky

Currently reading: a book set in 1941 Germany, 1980 West Berlin, and 2020 NYC, so you know, prescient historic crossroads. Under the Same Stars by Libba Bray, out 2/5/25 from MacMillan Audio.
