The noise I made when I read the invite brought my partner running, uncertain if something was very wrong or very right.

This.
I am spending this Valentine’s Day as I have all past days and will all future days, loving

Trans folks,
Global Majority femmes,
Abolitionists,
Radical queers,
People who fight for collective liberation.

Loving the People.
Loving us.

It’s us. We are the love that will bring our liberation.

I feel really lucky to be co-curating two group shows right now. As an artist, I know solo shows are a big deal. But group shows? They have their own magic, and it’s essential right now (actually always).

Do not consent to this ridiculous “divide and conquer” ploy. Y’all are right here. I’m right here. There’s no erasing us.
‼️ The State Department has REMOVED TQIA+ on their page of recommendations for queer travelers. This page yesterday said "LGBTQIA+" and now just says "LGB".

The federal government is trying to erase trans people from existence.

My solo show at Village Gallery in Portland is closing today. The conversations people have been having with me about the work have been so moving. Finding meaning and connection through art? It’s life-giving, and has been across centuries and cultures.

National Seed Swap Day is the last Saturday in January. I had no idea that was a thing. Now I do, thanks to @verdancyproject.bsky.social. Filled with seeds I gathered from my garden last year, these little collaged packets are headed out into the world. Damn if it doesn’t make me a little hopeful.

Ok I’ve got it started and it even has a snazzy image!

Apparently starter packs max out at 50! Who else should I add?

It’s ok to say yourself!

In November, after the election results led to a wave of shock and despair in the trans community that overwhelmed hotlines and stunned therapists, Assigned put together the Stay With Us package.

Day two of artist residency. I spent much of yesterday churning from one thing to the next, trying to find some generative way through the day. Finally settled into this old chair & heavy wool blanket for the evening, and rediscovered the long forgotten art of knowing when to sit your ass down.

Starting an artist residency today. I’m working on a writing project with my ancestors, who’ve been showing up in my photos. It felt inconsequential amidst the spew of EO’s coming out today. Then they showed up - the queer ones. Some are blood, some not. All say keep going. We do this together.

I am not a man.
Evan Urquhart is not a woman.
No matter what Trump's government said.

So much of what Trump wants to do targeting trans people will depend on cisgender people to enforce his policies and police our bodies and spaces we exist in.

So much can be stopped by people refusing to do so.
Trump is reportedly going to sign a piece of paper later today declaring that the federal government of the United States defines me as a woman.

If there's a better encapsulation of how stupid the whole "define woman" thing is and has always been I'd love to see it.
Let's close with a picture. This is me, full body, no filters, no tricks.
