Two draws into the Olympics Trials, Two stripes down in the socks!

_It begins_

We’re knitting our advent sock yarn at the Canadian Curling Trials, one stripe per draw. This might be the only photo we post “live” so we don’t spoil the colours for others.

I’m on to the second sock! Took it to sit next to the river with a glass of wine this afternoon.

This is shaping up to be the first month I’m not finished before the next pattern drops. I’ve just turned the heel of the first sock, and it’s already the 24th 😬

Nothing about the pattern itself - there just hasn’t been much knitting this morning

My advent/curling socks are complete! (Pending weaving in of ends) They’re the same gradient running opposite directions on each pair. (The yarn is The Cozy Knitter 2024 advent sock yarn)

I’m really happy with adding a little short row gusset to the afterthought heels.

A wild Friday night putting heels in sock tubes I had waiting in a pile of sock tubes.

I always want knitting out of both ends of the same ball to be a nice smooth process - but it’s always a twisting mess… and yet I’ll do it again.

As I cast on for the fourth pair in the Handmade Sock Society 6 by Helen Stewart, I realized that I don’t think I showed any photos of the third pair. I did knit them!!

I finished them earlier this week, although I haven’t woven in any ends on any of the pairs yet.

Three socks should be enough knitting for watching a soccer game, right?

Day 15 (using the tour stages as counting) of the Tour de Fleece: I didn’t get a full 15 minutes in yesterday, but did get more than that in today! Most of the way through the blue section.
July 20, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Tour de Fleece Day 14: covered the last of the blue on the bottom of the bobbin just in time to start the next section of blue!

I’m not always a fan of spinning high silk contents, but this is delightful.

Tour de Fleece Day 13: most of the way through this section of dark green!
July 18, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Tour de Fleece Day… 11? 12? How do we count the rest day?

Got my 15 minutes in right at the end of the day before bed, so the photo quality isn’t great. Mostly just a little green addition at the top of the bobbin.
July 17, 2025 at 2:16 AM
Tour de Fleece Day 10: late night spinning today, so terrible lighting. I’m happy to have covered the last of the orange leader thread poking through, and made it to the first colour change!
July 15, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Tour de Fleece Day 9: Spinning the fibre I prepped yesterday. I forgot how much slower progress looks with such a fine weight spin.
July 14, 2025 at 12:47 AM
Day 8 of the Tour de Fleece: I spent time this morning prepping. A bunch of my stash is a bit compressed, so I teased it open a bit and then very lightly pre-drafted to bring everything together.

This fibre is a wool/silk blend from @goodfibrations.bluesky.com

I knit the -neon- cuffs of these socks over the winter, and then rapidly realized that I did not have enough light for tiny black yarn.

I’ve pulled them both out and I’m going to try to power through them while I have the light.

(Yarn is all Leo and Roxy)

Day 7 of the Tour de France: finished the neon braid! The two bobbins seem fairly different, so I think we’re looking at chain plying?
July 11, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Day 6 of the Tour de Fleece: we’re through the purple and most of way through pink, which means we’re almost done this braid!
July 10, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Day five of tour de fleece: Left spinning right to the end of the day, but spent more than 15 minutes so that I could cover the bobbin with a pretty gradient.
July 10, 2025 at 3:12 AM
Got my Tour de Fleece spinning in just after work today.
July 8, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Day three of the Tour de Fleece - I did get in my 15 minutes at the end of a busy day!
July 8, 2025 at 2:21 AM
Didn’t sleep well, so got some tour de fleece spinning done in the morning!
July 6, 2025 at 11:56 AM
I’m not setting any goals for tour de fleece, but I did spin for 15 minutes today!

I finished the matching braid quickly after buying them at PEI Fibre festival, but stalled out on this one half way through.

Progress on my plain vanilla socks!

The next KAL sock pattern dropped yesterday, and I’ve started, but it’s not really drag-around with me knitting.
July 5, 2025 at 9:16 PM
I have three socks waiting for a toe graft, so clearly it’s time to cast on another!

The next KAL pattern isn’t out yet, so I’m just casting on a vanilla self striping.
