There is a certain comfort in hopelessness. It allows us to guard our hearts from being wounded again. The gospel calls us to the dangerous work of believing that God might indeed be active in our world that in the midst of so much darkness there is still space for light.

Christian Trump supporters opposed to the Gaetz nomination do realize the president elect is an adjudicated sexual assailant, right? Elect a man like that, and there are plenty more scandals and indignities to come.

This is ground I will not concede. The law matters, and the way we talk about it matters, too.
Getting a lot of replies along the lines of "oh, you rube, you still think the law matters" and it feels strategically foolish to just concede that it doesn't. Contest everything. Expose the hypocrisy.

The law and institutions generally are not self-implementing, but require people to take their constitutional, professional, and civic responsibilities seriously.
