Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.
1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.
Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

As many of you know, a handful of Dem Sens have voted on a CR that keeps the government funded until Jan 30, which would end the shutdown. For those watching for anti-trans provisions, there are none in the CR.
Senate Vets-MilCon, Leg, Ag minibus bills for FY26 have no riders.

Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What i think is cool about Arc Raiders is there is no explicit incentive to kill other players other than greed. In fact there are a lot of incentives to help each other against the very deadly robots. PvP or cooperation plays out rather naturally based on the lobby you get.

I just made the best espresso I've ever had and I'm planning my first turns for a Twilight Imperium game this weekend. I'm in my happy place.

My most low brow take is that politicians that make "here's how recent retirement/announcement/surprise colleague victory is actually about me as well" posts on social media should be primaried.

A contentious kids safety bill might be getting gutted — and nobody’s happy
It’s expected to be introduced with a package of kids online safety bills.

I hate it when you learn a new step in espresso making that makes a noticeable difference. Like what do you mean carefully removing the crema removes most of the bitterness.

"That grinder costs $600!?!?"

the fun thing about home espresso brewing is it will absolutely not save you money, especially if you are the kind of person who tends to become obsessive about technical details

All politics are local and it's crazy how much the media forgets about that. When a member of Congress has an insane constituent services team we know they are never going anywhere. You hear crazy stories of people calling their member with random problems AND those problems getting solved.
i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.
