Birthday pie day for @matt.alexander.social

This year he picked his regular apple pie and the spiced pear cranberry crumble

House smells really good today!

Okay, so imagine a shark rolls into town and starts terrorizing the neighborhood. People get fed up but they’re scared, it’s a really big shark

The shark tells them, if you feed me one of your kids, I’ll stop being a dick, promise! C’mon, your kids are annoying, and it’s just one! 1/

Kinda crazy seeing how this 100 year old technology still works
Here’s a little video that explains how this old-school rheostat on an old White rotary sewing machine cabinet works

Had to open it to check it was clean and still functional before putting it back in use

Oldest looks at me with concern when I say Plate Up is relaxing

But this is the best visualization for all the different anxieties going on in my head

Maybe more conveyor belts and teleporters would fix me

Easy way to get me to switch products, especially a food product:

Add a seal that says you’re committed to a binding arbitration agreement if you open it!

On collagen powder?? What is so shady about your powder you needed to add that??

Luckily Costco carries a different brand

One patch work witch finished! Most of it is scraps of fabric I’ve been carting around with me for 20 years. For once, my fabric pack rat ways are a boon!

She wanted to be a sparkly blue and pink and black witch. Hard to tell but the hat is sooo sparkly. Check out the broom she and her dad made!

Today’s treat: blueberry lemon buckle with crumble and lemon syrup. Might be my favorite version yet.

Adapted from I think my most used cookbook, “rustic fruit desserts”. It’s just so versatile, perfect recipes as written but so easy to adapt to whatever you have on hand.

Tostada Wednesday is superior to Taco Tuesday.

They are just a better weekday food. Weekends are for tacos, when I can slow roast or braise some proper meat

Every year, @elyse.bsky.social makes me a pie for my birthday and then on Oct 4th, I have pie for breakfast.

I forgot to post a pic this morning, but happy "pie for breakfast" day to all that celebrate.

Captured a rare occurrence: these two silly girls sharing a dog bed and enjoy their individual, identical treats without trying to steal the “better” one from each other!

Tonight’s dinner, pozole verde with all the toppings. I’m down with a school started two weeks ago standard cold, so all credit goes to @matt.alexander.social tonight. It really hit the spot while I’m all stuffed up and achey

In case there's any doubt that the apple falls close to the tree, my son just requested to start reading my favorite series, without knowing that I like it (or even that I have read it).

I took the moment to nerd out on him and I think he regrets his decision.

Made a chicken sandwich for @elyse.bsky.social. She asked for extra pepper, and I thought I obliged.

Her response: "could use more pepper"

My 6yo found a sharper image catalog and started cutting out things she wanted to buy. Most of them are interesting gadgets, but I did a double take when I got to the compression socks.

I make quilts, and I’ve started to keep some for myself, which is weirdly new for me.

I finished this one nearly 6 months ago. Here it is in the new work space I’m setting up! All the fabrics are from Alison Glass and it’s hand quilted with big stitches, like Kantha style.

We usually slice up apples when we put them in my daughter's lunch.

So when I offer her a whole apple it becomes this exotic treat. Which is great because I'm lazy.
