Aurora Nearlyinservice-alis! ✨

With introduction into service due in next month, today was a chance for staff to experience the 810 as a passenger, as well as giving the Aurora Team feedback on design and service elements

I got to trial it in First going to London returning in Standard

Not gonna lie, I 100% agree with you Noel, & while I wasn't so keen on the original proposal, the new one looks great to me. It's sympathetic to the actually original parts of the station that remain, & in my opinion look more impressive of a gateway to London than the current station does.

So, the latest GreenSignals podcast about Virgin getting access to Temple Mills is now up www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikDn...

My job was to knit it all together, but there are v interesting parts from Phil Whittingham (Virgin) & Diccon Spain (Ashford councillor), esp about Trenitalia

Damn this UK exceptionalism. "he still insists that Britain has the best railway in Europe"

Austria would like a word. Or Switzerland. And in fact Italy too, I'd argue.

The UK isn't as bad as many in Europe think, but it has problems too!

Eurostar has finally bitten the bullet!
So Eurostar has *finally* ordered trains from Alstom

But only 30 (with options for 20 more) - enough only to replace the ex-Thalys fleet, meaning it's possible we still never see these in the Channel Tunnel #CrossChannelRail

Eurostar ordering just 30 Alstom trains: pragmatism, and a lack of ambition - Jon Worth

Getting the chance to see the production process of the EMR 810s, from the start to finish, check out the standard interior of 810022, plus having a ride behind the replica of ‘Locomotion No. 1’. 🚂 ➡️ 🚄

Happy #Railway200! 🥳 🚂

It’s crazy to think 200 years ago on this day something started that we now take for granted as a method of getting about!

I had the pleasure of seeing the train that started it, ‘Locomotion No.1’, at The Greatest Gathering. The first train of the first modern railway!

The bullet train in 🇯🇵-as glorious as everyone says. A reminder the Japanese built their first high speed train for the 1964 Olympics and it became national by the 80s. They’re now building Maglevs (floating trains).

Meanwhile in 🇬🇧 we can’t be sure we’ll connect HS2 to Euston. Pathetic.
