After intro courses like Stop the Bleed, I can recommend Wilderness First Aid (two days) & Wilderness First Responder (two weeks) offered by groups like NOLS, National Outdoor Leadership School:

I get no kickback, I just really got a lot out of the experience.

CPR, Stop the Bleed & first aid are useful skills for ‘ordinary’ life, not just an apocalypse.

They’re also interesting to learn about.

The news about Musk’s team, none of whom AFAIK are sworn federal employees, forcing access to high-security government computer systems, sounds like a violation of Title 18 USC 1030, which is a felony.

More thoughts about consequences of canceling remote work for government employees: increased commute time & stress, gas consumption, potential accidents, & road maintenance (costs borne by local governments). All this in the name of efficiency.

The Trump administration proposes to cancel remote work for many employees. This will require re-acquisition of many expensive leases cancelled previously. Trump also proposes selling government-owned buildings he considers badly managed. I wonder who would buy & lease them back to the government.

The classic “Van Loon’s Lives” (1942) is a series of historical essays packaged as a fantasy in which ghosts of famous people come to dinner.
His description of an evening with Robespierre and Torquemada is riveting for its contemporary feeling.

I may have shared a post without meaning to. It was interesting but I didn’t mean to press that button. I’m new to this.
What a lame first post.
