I wrote about Nazism in a small Michigan town, and in a large North American country; about the uses of and limits of shame; and on the importance of holding shared standards. www.the-reframe.com/the-death-of...
The Death of Shame
Modern Nazis, careless people, and the offensive necessity of caring in a shameful age.

Covid is gonna shape American politics for years and years because it was the first time most Americans were asked to make sacrifices and they lost their minds because of it.
That's kinda the vibe of so many folks I grew up near (South Texas) of the older generations.

They legitimately were changed by the COVID chaos. They went from being like, generous Christians to being locked inside their giant homes screeching about Fauci.

Thread…

I’ve grown up in Chicagoland since the 1980s. As Trump plans to ransack our city & region with illegal military occupation, here are 3 facts he & most of corporate media won’t bother to address—because doing so would undermine Trump’s entire fascist narrative to enable autocratic rule.

I don’t recall the name of the book @kevinbuist.com shared with me, but I loved its redefining of the word “woke” to “offensive to bigots.”
Succinct and unmasks intent.

The Smithsonian is offensive to bigots
Superman is offensive to bigots
DEI is offensive to bigots
LEGO is offensive to bigots

“This is alright, you have to understand, because the president is a dim oaf. And when they drive him out to a golf course — where they’ll let him cheat badly — they don’t want him to see anything that’ll send him into a simian rage. I am very smart.”
"For the president, this is something that hits home, because he is a visual person and the visuals of him driving to his golf course and seeing those homeless encampments" -- Politico's Dasha Burns puts on a masterclass in Trump sanewashing on Fox News

Trump is announcing Federal control over DC.

White supremacy fascism is when you pardon 1600 violent Nazi insurrectionists who tried to overthrow democracy and beat hundreds of cops, killing several, but then claim DC is violent despite 30 year lows in crime, including a 26% drop last year.

Leaving for year 12 of Gen Con today with my gaming group.
Thoughts on buying direct from the publisher vs having patience and ordering the game from your FLGS? I’d love to hear anyone with insights as to which is best for the health of the industry.

In keeping with the mantra of this administration, “If it ain’t broke, break it,” JD “I’ll even break your couch in” Vance does his best to make the CFP trophy a metaphor for *gestures at everything*
At the White House, Vice President JD Vance tried to lift the CFP Championship Trophy, and it broke apart in his hands. A perfect metaphor for the Trump administration.

“Elon’s rich, and you don’t get rich by being stupid.”

Remember, it was a rich person who greenlit the Chevy Chase Show, a show where likable every-man Chevy Chase interacts with other humans.

“I have nothing to do with project 2025” he said with the same earnestness of a kindergartener caught three knuckles into a nostril-fed brain scratching saying “I’m not picking my nose.”

Anyway, now would be a good time for anyone in a position to do something to stop this to, y’know, do something.

Not trying to rush to judgement here, but I think Musk might have given a Nazi salute.
If only there were a video showing that the pictures were taken out of context, then maybe we could simply write it off as a fascist Roman salute.
I guess we’ll never know.

I think one of the best things technology has given us is the ability to stay connected to people.

I think one of the worst things technology has done is make us much more reachable.

Can’t post these things on my other socials because I’m connected to too many parents of my students, but can people stop taking pictures of their kids homecoming/prom proposals? Your kid’s cheesy poster
publicly asking for a date shouldn’t be fodder for likes.
