Oregon is not one of the states suing the birthright citizenship order. I called the OR Assistant Attorney General's office and left a message about it today. There was no direct line for the AG. In case any Oregonians want to make a call:

Doing the same New Year's resolution as last year. My goal is to not buy any books and read the ones I already own. I made it to April before I bought a book last year. Let's see how far I make it this year.

While bedtime reading with my kid tonight we reached the point in the book where we are so close to finishing and don't want to stop, but I have to be "the responsible one" and can't keep him up late on a school night to finish a book. #BedtimeReading #PercyJackson #HowDoesItEnd

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved.

We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

With every passing day I better understand the mothers in Victorian novels who stay in their bedrooms with the curtains closed and complain vaguely about their “nerves.”

So as it turns out, Trump is worse for Gaza. Had we only known!
Donald Trump tapped retired Lt. General Keith Kellogg to be an Assistant to the President and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

Here Keith is saying that "it makes no sense to have a Palestinian state. It's not going to happen."

How are all you Jill Stein voters feeling now? Clowns.

Such a good prompt! I base my reading list on which book Libby offers me when I'm close to finishing the current book I'm reading. I call it library roulette. How about you?
It’s new book choosing day!

I’m a mood reader so can’t really plan what to read next.

I tend to use my TBR shelves as a bookshop and select titles that sound like they might fit my mood. Then narrow down from there.

How do you choose what to read next? 💙📚 #booksky

I also think about how many events we slog through for so little to end up in the history books. We are currently living the last chapter in the textbook that often doesn't get covered.
I often think about how this time is gonna be described in history books…

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky

Some people ask which of the people that Trump nominated is the most dangerous, but it seems to me that the most dangerous aspect of the situation is that Trump is trying to make the Senate submit to patently absurd nominees to establish the precedent that they don’t meaningfully check his power.

Okay, call me a moon-eyed fool, but it gives me comfort to think that this is the really shitty period of history that leads to something more like Star Trek.

One in each format: audio, Kindle, hard copy, and usually a spare for when I don't have one of the other three.
Do any of you also read four books simultaneously or do you have your life in order
