Three out of five men in this shot have been accused of sexual misconduct, harassment or abusive behaviour towards women. A fourth signed into law a near-total abortion ban in his state as governor.

The whole climax of Torah--from the Garden of Eden through Deuteronomy--is covenant, & these two words:

Choose life.

Sounds pithy & easy, right?

Until you start applying the flourishing of all life, all kinds of privilege (as noted in the verses), to concrete policy and systemic choices.

Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

AI written IEPs are here. Our NPS school has many first year teachers, so they purchased an IEP writing software system to help us manage the process. Dutiful ND that I am, I used it. It doubled the time to write IEPs. It made my IEPs better by forcing me to be precise, use data, and justify. +

I’m going to add here for the non advanced classes:
When you practice UDL principles in the structure of your environment and pedagogy, when you allow all accommodations, when you acknowledge that audiovisual, AAC, and other supports are useful, it is also okay to let them fail.
Let. Them. Fail.

If students can’t do the bare minimum, they cannot pass the class.

I’ve struggled with this my entire career. I teach collegiate and advanced courses; I know it’s my job to make them do hard things. If they pass my class and can’t do hard things, I failed.

And I don’t fail.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

This explains so much.
"Somebody has to tell you!” it exclaimed. “Whenever anything happens in your life, no matter what it is, your face does the same thing: confusion and annoyance. You look like a gerbil who’s trying to solve a quadratic equation.”
Mirror wishes it could give you tips on facial expressions
After living unobtrusively in your hallway for the past six years, your mirror has been getting more and more furious at your inability to do anything right with your stupid face. Today, the mirror…

My oldest was born on 12/25. So we did Xmas on 12/24, and Xmas dinner was his bday meal. As soon as he was old enough, he asked why we didn’t all have feasts for our bdays, so now we do!
Thanksgiving is a high-tier holiday because it's one of the only proper Feasts we celebrate anymore. There used to be feasts all the time. The liturgical calendar is full of feasts. We should be doing more feasts. Like I'm not "having some friends over for dinner." We're holding a proper feast.

what i love is that in 1990 judas priest got brought to trial over the claim that subliminal messages in the recording "better by you better than me" caused two suicides and now in 2025 openai seems to be generating a suicide a week with its superliminal messages and the US government is funding it

It’s Thanksgiving. My student’s parents are texting me.

To check on me post surgery.
To wish me Happy Thanksgiving.
To see if I need anything.

I’ve had some of these kids for three years already. This is such a different existence. So much thankfulness.

Growing up, my mother often referred to me as Pollyanna. I’m actually more like Eeyore. I am fatalistically optimistic. I know that horrible people will always exist. But I firmly believe that there are more good humans than rotten ones, and act accordingly.
“When I choose to see the good side of things, I'm not being naive. It is strategic and necessary. It's how I've learned to survive through everything… I know you see yourself as a fighter. Well, I see myself as one too. This is how I fight.”

So the cancer that was in my body is gone. Early screening for lung cancer saved my life. If you smoke or smoked, and are over 50, you can get a CT scan. Please do so. By the time it is symptomatic, your survival rate is down to 60% or less.

Good morning. A reminder that one of the reasons you see an uptick in “behaviors” during adolescence is because they are appropriately wanting more independence and space, and are seeking it by using old behaviors.
Give them more space, please. Teach them skills. Let them fly.

My current teaching position involves paraprofessionals. There are more adults than children in my classroom. I don’t play well with adults. It took two years, but my team is rock solid.
But my first year? I got bullied until I started treating my staff like my former AP kids and taught autism 101
hot take: Autistic people who take to leadership roles often engage w/ their position w/ the “servant leadership” approach, viewing their duty as being to the people that report to them, raising up peoples’ strengths to create successful autonomous teams

& the few of us skilled at that get promoted
