This is shocking. Funny, sharp and a good teacher. And so young (from my perspective of 61.)

Brian Wilson was my friend and my brother in songwriting.
We shared a similar sensibility, as evidenced by his 4 over 5 chord under “Aaaah!” in "Good Vibrations” and mine under "I’m into something good.”
We once discussed who used it first, and in the end we decided it didn’t matter.

Greta, a yacht, & a photo op

FYI Greta's "help! we've been kidnapped & we can't get out" video was pretaped before the IDF was involved & posted afterwards. 🇮🇱 has already said they will all be sent home, asap (possibly they'll shown the Oct 7 tapes)

Just read a Jane Austen fanfic where it's clear that author thinks "withdrawing room" - already out of date - is a euphemism for privy.

It never was.

Here's a question. I'm thinking of getting a cast iron pan, even if i have to go through the seasoning process.

I don't really want to own more than one, so would it be more useful milchig or fleishig? I have a cast-iron grill pan for meat already, plus two enameled dutch ovens, one each.

I haven't done this in a while - my Shavuot menu. This year, I did very little cooking in a advance - I broiled salmon filets and roasted asparagus.

1st night was a modified Alton Brown pasta recipe with ricotta cheese, garlic, pumpkin seeds, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil and scallions. (1)

Terrifying.

The lid can be removed… UNDER PRESSURE.

Super heated live steam.

Under the best of cases it’s a nasty burn.

Worst, it flays your hand to the bones.

Today, we went appliance shopping. We didn't buy anything, but we solidified some plans.

While our 14 yo fridge mostly works, it's a little small and the kitchen is too narrow for the door.

We can get a little taller and a little wider with French doors.

Back in the normal world again. My first chometz was a burger and fries; dinner was red beans, bourbon chicken sausage and rice. Chometz and kitniyot - my culinary options expanded.

The coconut aminos were a real find, though, and I'm loving the avocado oil. So I might continue with those.

This is terrifying for so very many reasons. There's nothing good here.

My kitchen is now back to normal. I have my good knives and familiar utensils again.

Most of the Passover stuff is either away or ready to be away. Most of the chometz stuff was either in place or is ready to be put back.

This is why I took tomorrow off. I can finish then.

Since all the coffee machines are chometz, the only coffee available has been instant using a Pesadich thermal pump.

4 week days is a long chol hamoed. They seem to have run out of the regular instant, leaving only decaf. This is bad for the dozen or so working today. They can't even buy coffee.

How quiet is it at work? Our lights are motion sensitive. Every so often, I have to wave my arms to them on again.

Explanations:
1. Matzo balls. Those have been failures for YEARS. Tiny sinkers compared to my mom's, which floated to the ceiling.

This year, I used a mix, cooked them in a very wide pot AND (I think this is critical) stored them in the poaching liquid, not dry. I also used jumbo eggs.)

Oh, as a minor thing - the last couple of years, we started using these metal folding dishracks for Pesach and we HATED them. They had no place for the silver, held almost no plates and the drip trays had no outlet.

This year, I got expanding silicon ones, which we like but there's no drip trays.

Failures and successes for the first two days of Passover - mostly successes.
1. Grated apple for charoset - success. Will do again, recommend.
2. Matzo balls - SUCCESS. Fully cooked and fluffy. Best ever.
3. Pot roast - top of rib, tender but not falling apart, tasty. Success.

So, here I am at work. It's an Orthodox Jewish organization, so it's pretty much empty - a lot of programs are closed, so people are either working from home or just taking vacation.

I brought my own coffee in a thermal cup because my other choice is instant. The other coffee makers are sealed off.

Someone burned Gov Shapiro's home? On Pesach?

Lovely.
