TIL about the final "intact" Santa Fe 2-8-2 on earth: ATSF 4076. On this date 50 years ago, The S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank in a storm on Lake Superior. The ship sank at approximately 7:10 pm on that day. All 29 men aboard perished in the sinking. We must remember those 29 brave souls who set out on a voyage that would ultimately be their last.
