Darren had an exceptional talent for egging people on, and convincing ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

His greatest trick was convincing everyone that he was just an ordinary guy too. And he wasn't. He was exceptional.

By the way, when Pierre Poilievre promises to end funding to the CBC, his ends are the same as Trump's with Kimmel. Trump doesn't like jokes about him. Poilievre doesn't like sober news coverage.

Told ya. And this is why we're going to end up with a Conservative government. Liberal partisans rationalizing everything he does and telling progressives to keep quiet are a big part of this.

We knew he was a blue Liberal. But Mark Carney is alienating progressive voters
The new PM's defiant tone doesn't always appear to match his actions.

Who could have imagined that two men who famously fuck people over and have public meltdowns about it would try to fuck each other over and have public meltdowns about it?

@plagasse.bsky.social is the Address in Reply to the Speech from the Throne a confidence motion/vote in Canadian parliamentary tradition?

I once again find myself in a situation where holds at the library are becoming ready at a clip outpacing my reading through my current reads. Looks like a couple ready by tomorrow and I’m not ready for them! They’re not light reads either. Oh well 🤷.

My reading habits had a massive boost when I was able to let go of militant completionism. 12/10 sound advice.

Danielle Smith needs to be called out for what she is: a collaborator.
So Smith joked around when Shapiro raised 51st state talk, helped raise money for a far-right propaganda mill, and chilled with terrible people. This helps Canada … how?
“There was a massive conservative movement that's happening in Canada,” Shapiro said. “I think the obstacles to that need to be removed.”

@daveberta.bsky.social Hi! Just wanted to mention that I believe the surname of the NDP candidate in Lethbridge is misspelled... "Svoboda" vs "Svodoba"

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t think provincial leaders should be working with hostile foreign govts to interfere in a federal election to get their preferred party elected whose “perspective would be very much in sync with, I think…the new direction in America”

This is traitorous stuff.
Smith to Breitbart: “What I fear is the longer this dispute goes on, politicians posture, and it seems to be benefiting the Liberals right now. So I would hope we could put things on pause is what I’ve told administration officials. Let’s just put things on pause so we can get through an election.”

A reminder to myself to be gentle with myself today. Relishing the fact it’s the end of my work week, and very aware of the funeral this evening to say goodbye to a very dear friend and mentor.

I just found out that a good friend and mentor passed away on Thursday. She was 45. </3 Rest in eternal peace and delight, my friend.

Opinion: Canada must hit the U.S. where it hurts most: its lucrative patents
If the United States declares economic warfare on Canada, we need policies that not only cost U.S. firms but create opportunities for Canadian ones
