Now that I'm not spoiling the surprise, here's the main gift I made for @mkdouma6.bsky.social this time. It's a mask of what's supposed to be her Perennial Astronaut character. I used the same mold as for my Death Knight mask and added fake nails and hot glue for teeth, gums, and other details.

My 8 months pregnant sister is in the hospital with high blood pressure. They've got her under close supervision so hopefully it's all fine but it's very nerve wracking

I feel like it smells slightly like gas in my apartment. I can't tell. We do have a "fill the apartment with deadly gas" lever but as far as I know, that's still taped down.

I'm very glad for my own ability to recognize and analyze themes in media because I frequently get to give those kind of compliments and people always light up when I do. I like being able to give people that.

Art is all about communication. The best feeling for both creator and enjoyer is just "I understood this." At that point, whether or not I even liked it isn't even important. Because me liking it is subjective. But me understanding it means you succeeded, objectively, at your goal of communication.

I've said before and I'll say a thousand times: the best kind of compliment to an artist, and my favorite kind of compliment to give, is "I heard what you meant to say". Not even an "I liked it". Just an "I understood it. I saw that you put something on purpose. I understand why you did".

And it suddenly occurred to me that I may not have been physically capable of getting back to my car.

I reached the point at like roughly 8pm or so where I was like "I'm honestly doing surprisingly well. I'm not in very much pain. I'm not too woozy." And then I made the mistake of standing up and realizing my costume was one billion pounds and seemed to gain an extra million while I'd been sitting.

I have low standards for hotels but I couldn't stay in that one last night. I swapped to a different hotel. I got a late cancellation fee but luckily was able to refund the rest of the nights. Now I'm somewhere much cleaner and quite happy to be here.

I actually decided I have enough character. I physically couldn't stay there. And I have low standards for hotels. I cancelled the rest of the stay and changed to somewhere else.

Listen, a little exposed wiring never hurt anybody. Sure one of the pillows is stained. Does the toilet flush? Technically. Is there more than one towel? What do you think this is, the Ritz Carlton?

I haven't been inside yet, but the look of the outside of the motel I'm at tonight and for the rest of my trip does not give me a lot of hope that it will be an improvement from last night.
