Child poverty costs the UK economy an estimated £39 billion per year - more than ten times the money that keeping the two-child limit 'saves'.

And as the limit itself is the largest driver of rising child poverty in the UK, scrapping it would be the most cost-effective way to reduce child poverty.

This is crazy. I know so many people who are against mainstream media and how we're all brainwashed, but they don't question even the simplest things from accounts like these.
Not a single one of the big pro-Trump "Canadian MAGA" accounts is actually Canadian.

Science does not prove negatives! We have also not “proved” there are no little green men on Mars. Yet that is a scientific fact- many studies have not shown evidence for little green Mars aliens.

In practice, scientific truth comes from the consensus of the scientific community.

Interesting. Wonder what it is for media? Often at media events I’m the only state school educated person there (I had a bloody excellent education, btw. Zero complaints).

So this interview lasted 2 hours so this “you’re scaring me” part might seem like an overreaction or fearmongering to someone without that context.

There’s a lot of evidence to support my hypothesis that a potential H5N1 pandemic would be worse than COVID.

But one thing is VERY clear, as discussed in our new article published yesterday in PLOS Medicine:

SUDDEN, UNPLANNED, RAPID, SHARP CUTS TO HEALTH AID CAUSE DISEASE RESURGENCE & KILL MANY PEOPLE

Reductions in aid should be slow, planned, & carefully managed

The hilariously sad part is that much like America the gutting of European social safety nets and general progressive plans will primarily impact white people. See Brexit for an example
"Why don't people support welfare programs?"

Racism. More specifically, anti-Blackness.

White folks asked about who welfare serves overestimate the number of Black people on welfare. Not only that, but just the mere THOUGHT of who welfare supports led less white people to support it. #blacksky

Maybe the thing that gives me a pulse-pounding throbbing headache is when I think of how techbros sold ChatGPT to universities as ‘revolutionizing’ higher education and our institutions just forked over money without even asking for actual evidence
When people learn with ChatGPT instead of following their own searches, they end up knowing less, caring less, and producing worse advice, even when the facts are the same.

Friction is an essential ingredient for learning! Convenience makes us shallow.
