I really am obsessed with the use of bugs in this book. Bugs encapsulate this weird science around change and evolution— the cocoon, the pupa, molting one’s skin— that is hard not to desire or even be envious of. Why can’t I just molt my skin to become my true body? Why will a cocoon not bless me?
