New in PN: Trump's lawfare takes a big L

"In theory, Trump could nominate someone actually qualified and bring new charges against Comey and James. In reality, the Venn diagram of confirmable US attorney candidates and people willing to pursue bogus indictments shows little if any overlap."

Living piggy lives

There’s real irony in this: lawmakers can’t get back to DC to vote to reopen the government because flights are canceled, thanks to the same shutdown they caused.

And if you think this is some reaction to something Kimmel said about Kirk, watch the clip. It's about as benign as you can get. He doesn't say one disparaging thing about Kirk. This was their plan. They were ready to pull the plug no matter what he said. This is an attack on the 1st amendment

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

That’s a lovely thought. But it could never happen with Donald Trump serving as president, and would never have been necessary if he weren’t.

Right up until the minute Trump’s business ventures like Trump Shuttle, Trump Atlantic City casinos, Trump Steaks, Trump University, etc, etc, went bankrupt, Trump was claiming they were a huge success with big things right around the corner. Just like now with the economy.

In the famous "first they came for...and when they came for me, there was no one left" aphorism, the point is generally that the first person or group they come for is one that everyone else is happy to see treated badly. That's the central lesson the saying is teaching. So: protect John Bolton.
