21 October 1966 – A colliery spoil tip slips onto #Aberfan village and school in #Wales killing 144 people inc. 116 schoolchildren. The National Coal Board was found to be entirely to blame for the disaster.
Only in South Wales were colliery tips dumped onto slopes.
