I can't stop thinking about that article about how people literally can't read because they're basically taught to guess over the last like two decades and like. It's really starting to make why people will respond aggressively, agreeing with what you said but convinced you said the opposite

I never connected the dots between the choice not to teach a generation how to read for ideological reasons and people just responding to words that are absolutely not in a communication.
my patience has increased but I will say, it is ok to have trouble reading, it is not ok to scream at people for things you imagined they said because you can't read what they actually said

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

It's because a bunch of liberal education departments that we trusted backed faulty research in order to sell reading curriculums that were based on nonsense. And you should make sure your local school district isn't still using it, especially if you live in a blue state where it was most popular.

Kind of wild that while food assistance was withheld from millions of families, one Trump-supporting billionaire (Ellison) saw his net worth grow more this year than the entire SNAP budget. And the YTD gains of the other four richest men would’ve fully covered salaries for all 2M federal employees.

There’s one version where Epstein was doing it on purpose to make everyone complicit and build a sort of shield around himself.
There’s another version where they’re all just people who have never faced accountability and act with impunity.
I’m going to go with the latter.
