I'm in Milan next weekend. Any tips for good concrete buildings, especially churches?
This looks a big too far away...

A statement of principles.

And to be perfectly clear, two of the three host countries are grappling with serious authoritarian impulses in their leadership. It’s not just about FIFA’s corruption.
I love soccer and I remember each World Cup with great intensity and always so much look forward to the next. But FIFA that was disgusting, even more disgusting than usual, and now I just can’t. And won’t.

At the Louvre through Jan 26, 2026: a landmark Jacques-Louis David retrospective, the first in 30 years, where dazzling loans and surgical visual analysis reveal the restless stylistic engine behind France’s revolutionary imagery. Seems a necessary pilgrimage.
In a Jacques-Louis David show at the Louvre, there’s no major reveal of new evidence nor the advancement of novel theses, nor even particularly creative interpretation. No need. It is simply a magnificent exhibition of note-perfect curation.
Jacques-Louis David Knew That Style Is Political
Where art history is a subjective observer, he was on an active quest for the representational form for the “truth.”

With all the news about the Hepatitis B vaccine today, one key fact sometimes overlooked: by preventing chronic HBV infection, it also helps prevent liver cancer, making it a true anti-cancer vaccine.

Universal HBV vaccination dramatically reduces the prevalence of HBV infection and incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma - PubMed
Universal HBV vaccination markedly reduces the prevalence of chronic HBV infection and may contribute to the decreased incidences of HCC and hepatic events.

A medieval scribe turned a flaw into art: a hole in the parchment, caused by an over-scraped animal hide, became a bearded face. A playful drawing shows how mistakes could inspire creativity and humor.

Just started a new series I’m loving! Jeremy’s making cheese, and I’m curious about the name he gives it, I’m guessing it’s a mild cheddar. So fun to follow the latest homemade cheese updates, can’t wait to see when he waxes it!
Making farmstead cheese today...Two gallons of whole milk: Freshly cuts curds, cooked curds, drained curds, and curds in a mold in the cheese press. First press now then stepwise to 50 pounds for 18 hours. 1 month aging. Ready for the family for the holidays.

Fingers crossed.
