Musk claims Social Security is a "gigantic magnet to attract illegal immigrants."

In fact, immigrants here illegally do not collect Social Security. But they pay $25.7 billion a year into it, a recent study found, so these undocumented workers are actually subsidizing Americans.

I explain in The Privateers, “the case against vouchers isn’t one-sided but it’s as one-sided as social science gets.”

Bigger, newer vouchers do worse (see @ceepiu.bsky.social 👇)

If the voucher lobby really thought results would be better now they’d insist states collect data to show it.

If the voucher lobby guys really believe parents are happier with their school voucher, why are they against showing parents a side-by-side comparison of public vs. voucher academic results?

Voucher transparency is a parents’ rights issue and a consumer fraud problem.

Great people and a gorgeous state.

Do you want to see an example of someone who is radicalized? May I present exhibit A, and he’s in charge of Oklahoma’s education system.
OK Schools Chief Ryan Walters says that public school teachers are the ones responsible for domestic terrorism. He says teachers have turned classrooms into “terrorist training camps” by indoctrinating students to “hate America.”

The voucher lobby says vouchers don’t cut public school $ because they’re paid by other state budget lines.

That’s like saying gas price hikes don’t hurt a family’s ability to pay a mortgage.

And relies on fantasies that below-COLA increases aren’t real dollar cuts (they are).

🧵As someone who lives in a ruby red state with very limited early childhood education options, cutting Head Start will be devastating to rural and Native communities -
Musk and Ramaswamy have already identified $516B dollars in government savings — it includes cutting all of Veteran’s Affairs health care, eliminating the NIH, and ending funding for federal prisons. @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social

Let this sink in - a former speechwriter for George Bush will likely never be invited back to MSNBC because of a flippant comment he made about FOX News? We are living in very interesting times. Will the Fourth Estate survive? Hope so - MSNBC and @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social doubtfully.

I'm pleased that he has made his way to this platform. It's much easier to share his posts. This is just little ole' me trying to raise the alarm on what Project 2025 will do to education in rural South Dakota communities.
Trump’s OMB director pick co-authored Project 2025, which recommends eliminating Head Start. The DOGE leaders have proposed the same thing.

That spells trouble for the ~40M children served by the program.
