Baker, tarot reader, photographer, writer, designer. It depends on the day.
Most of my friends know that I am a human juke box. A random word can bring up any song any time, no matter how obsure. The little Lulu theme song and Buster Brown shoe commercial. Well, last night I watched the Sound of Music. For the love of god… RUN… save yourself!!

Album Art Day 11
Laura Nyro — Gonna take a Miracle
Laura Nyro has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard. She had more success as a song writer, being covered by Three Dog Night, Carole King, and the 5th Dimension to name a few. This album is a collection of covers of her favorite songs.

In honor of X going down globally today, I give you X, an American punk band formed in LA. This band is a personal favorite of mine. Called a punk band when they couldn’t shoehorn a band into a category. The vocals of Exene Cervenka and John Doe were beautiful and stirring.

Iggy & the Stooges Raw Power

David Bowie
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Every Bowie album should be on this list, but I have to say that this is the album that I go back to the most. Lady Stardust still mesmerizes me.

Lene Lovich Stateless
The first time I saw Lene Lovich was on the Midnight Special. I thought I hated it, but then I couldn’t stop thinking about it and then I bought the album. I love her quirky voice and her braids. She was my first punk rock photograph.

American American Pie
I can’t tell you how many hours I spent with my friends trying to decipher all the clues in the song American Pie. It all seems so obvious now, but in my childhood it was a tantalizing mystery.

The New York Dolls
When I was in high school a few friends and myself mislead our parents, telling them that we were going into the city to go to the theater. Instead we went to CBGB’s to see The Dolls. David Johansson passed yesterday. It feels like a personal loss.

I have to admit I felt a little naughty cracking 6 eggs into this yummy quiche, even though it probably, with the current availability of eggs it will be 4 years until I bake another one! BTW, it was worth it!

Day 11 of Art
Sculptor Claes Oldenberg was at the forefront of the pop art movement. He said in 1961: “I am for an art that embroils itself with everyday crap and still comes out on top.” We could all use a bit of irreverence these days!
I love this guy!!

Day 9
We often forget to look at public statues as art, but Daniel CHester French is an amazing sculptor.
Daniel Chester French was an American sculptor. His works include The Minute Man, a statue in Concord, MA, and his 1920 statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Day 8

Paul Signac was a French Neo-Impressionist painter who, with Georges Seurat, helped develop Pointillism, an offshoot of Impressionism.
He he adapted the working methods of Seurat experimenting with small dots of pure color. The eye then mixes the colors instead of the artist.

Day 7
Margaret Keane was an American artist known for her paintings of subjects with big eyes.

Her ex, Walter Keane took credit for the paintings. Finally Margaret claimed credit, after a courtroom “paint-off” in Hawaii, in which Walter refused to participate. Watch Tim Burtons movie!

Hokusai a painter and printmaker. His print "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" is so iconic I doubt there is anyone who hasn’t seen it. In a long and successful career, Hokusai produced over 30,000 paintings, sketches, and woodblock prints. Check out some more Daily art on Helena Domenic's page!

Day 3
My Seven Year Old Self
Yes folks, this is my first painting I ever did when I was seven years old. Not a masterpiece, it still art!
I originally had another piece of art in mind but I dreamed I posted this, so you’ll see real art tomorrow! Helena Domenic already posted her art.

Day 2
As a history geek I love Hans Hobein the Younger. Beautiful paintings and drawings and King Henry VIII’s official painter. He was able to keep his head even though his painting of Anne of Cleves went horribly wrong. She kept her head as well, but Anne Boleyn who was his patron, lost hers!

I will be posting one piece of art every day for 30 days to distract myself. From now on the posts will be more positive, or at the very least neutral! But themind goes where the mind goes.
Today I give you “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. It seems appropriate.

I can’t tell you who sent me the Amazon gift card that I used to get these books! Alas, she doesn’t like social media! Gwendolyn Reece, I can’t wait to read your book, as soon as I put down the bread book, that is!
