I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Here are two facts:
1) actors should never be physically or mentally tormented while filming a movie
2) some of the best movies ever made are that good because the actors were physically and/or mentally tormented (see: the texas chain saw massacre, the blair witch project, eyes wide shut, holes)

And yeah I’ve always hated “unnecessary” as a criticism bc if we stick to necessity, one could go into a rabbit hole of arguing the entire genre doesn’t *need* to exist
Also, art does a lot of "unnecessary" shit "for no reason." That's one of the reasons art is so cool. You can do anything! It's pure expression and exploration. If we stuck to the strictly "necessary," we'd have less interesting art.
