Recently I met the organist who plays at a group of local village churches, he told me where some keys were kept and invited me to try them anytime. Well my friend and I went to a couple today and they were cute and quirky and a lot of fun! Got a nice walk in too between them.

NEW: Cardinal Blase Cupich, the Archbishop of Chicago, has issued a new statement declaring that Chicago "communities are shaken by immigration raids and detentions. These actions wound the soul of our city. Let me be clear. The Church stands with migrants."

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Massive institution run by men gets run into the ground in some profound way ➡️ figurehead resigns so people will stop yelling at him ➡️ First Woman Figurehead is appointed to the impossible task of uniting and cleaning up an institution whose wounds have been left to fester for decades/ centuries.

As someone who does accounting and data validation, this would get me fired:

For a few years every bus cost £1 and I caught them all the time, it was great! Then they doubled to £2, which was okay, especially as it capped at £5 for the day. But £3 for a single (including short distances) and it's now a factor in making plans.

More data centres are coming to the UK, with British citizens being expected to foot the electricity and water bill. A textbook example of socialism for corporations, cutthroat capitalism for the public.
Data centres to be expanded across UK as concerns mount - BBC News
The number of data centres is set to jump by a fifth in the coming years, figures seen by the BBC suggest.

Removing our human rights will affect us all, not just asylum seekers. And I’m quite attached to my human rights.

Pride was a joy, as ever. And regardless of what one angry commenter might insist, the LGBT+ community in Brighton was happy we were there, and welcomed our presence with so much love! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Off to march with Christians at Pride in Brighton. Because pride is still a protest and I will take any opportunity to remind the bishops that for some of us, our strongly held theological beliefs are that every human is made in the image of God and that discrimination is a sin!

Yesterday’s London Trans Pride was the world’s largest Trans Pride - EVER - ANYWHERE - possibly the largest gathering of trans & NB people in human history!

Mentioned in The Guardian, The Indie, LBC and…

…the BBC News local London page.

Transphobic media bias in the UK is staggering.
Apparently you can now find a story about London Trans Pride - the biggest globally, EVER - by going to the London subsection - it's next to a story about potholes.

I've worked with some amazing people at the BBC - but the editorial bias is extraordinary to see in action.
The BBC News website has pages & pages of coverage related to farmers protesting inheritance tax, including events where only a few hundred turn out.

In London yesterday 100,000 people marched for trans rights, and nothing.

Imagine if it was 100,000 anti immigrant activists, they'd cover that.

Lovely to celebrate Sea Sunday this morning! My parents used to spend all of their free time volunteering at the Mission in Rotterdam, and when I was born the sailors there gave my mum a union flag which she proudly flies at jubilees.

Just planned and conducted evensong for the first time and people said nice things afterwards! We haven't done one at church for well over a year so started with pretty much a blank slate.

(Next project might have to be "get more copies of the music"...)

If anyone knows how to stop Google and Microsoft and Facebook and the rest of the internet forcing AI responses on me when I didn't ask, PLEASE tell me!
GenAI is fuckin evil and you really need to stop fiddling with it, even for jokes.

People are getting sick and will inevitably die from these data centers, which irrevocably harm the environment and those who live in it to run machines who wouldn’t exist without plagiarism.
