Numancia. Site of the heroic but doomed resistance of Iberians to Roman conquest and a foundation myth of Spanish nationalism in C19th. Both sides used its imagery during Spanish Civil War. Strongly recommend a visit just outside town of Soria, whose football team by the way is named after it.

I keep forgetting to say - on the blog I wrote about being called a contrarian for doing history, why misunderstandings of the "Dark Ages" ignore materialist circumstances and also just, you know, any history at all whatsoever.

In case you missed this, the BBC edited a historian's speech about Trump to remove the claim that he's "the most openly corrupt president in US history." This came after Trump had threatened a $1 billion lawsuit.

Elite capitulation continues.

Trump Angrily Threatened to Sue BBC. Then Things Took a Darker Turn.
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

New details today about racist Farage in the Guardian. Farage would wait outside Jewish service at school to racially abuse students as they left. Not “banter” in the corridors. Targeted and premeditated.
