🚨BREAKING -- Five UN special rapporteurs have condemned Britain's proscription of Palestine Action as unnecessary and authoritarian.

"We are concerned at the seemingly unjustified use of counter-terrorism laws against protest activity in a democratic society", they write.

The Tories admitted to parachuting people into institutional positions of power in order to work as insider ‘agents’ pushing political/ ideological agenda.

They did it to attack trans people.

What makes you think they weren’t also pushing other agendas???

I have already had several lawyers (former and present) reach out to thank me for my bravery in writing this piece. It's astonishing that stating such an obvious truth (that the judiciary cannot avoid the prejudices of the society it operates within) requires courage at all.
"As someone working in law, it’s heresy to say this, and it might even kill my chances of a career... But as a trans person, and someone fighting for the rights of my community, I refuse to remain silent. To me it just seems obvious: a heavily prejudiced society produces prejudiced institutions."
It’s no surprise that only 31% of trans people trust a legal system built to enforce prejudice, says Jess O’Thomson.

Bullies will bully you more if you show weakness …
I fear we are seeing in the UK what has become abundantly clear in the US: for all their power and privilege, elites and institutions are absolute cowards in the face of right-wing authoritarianism. Weak, weak, weak, as Tony Blair once said

🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.

1. The approach of mainstream Democrats is summed up in this astonishing February advice from the Democratic strategist James Carville:

This is true in the UK - many of the food bank recipients or those on other financial benefits are working - the UKs benefits bill is just enabling large corporations to underfund their staff
Amazon and Walmart are two of the biggest recipients of SNAP and Medicaid funds because they don't take care of their employees. Families working 40+ hours a week requiring gov subsistence. In Canada they go to food pantries to make ends meet.

Corporations are the real "welfare queens" of society

This is so bad - the antithesis of what an equality commission should be doing … actively working to attack the rights of one (smaller) group (GRC holders) planning on a domino effect to take the rest of the trans community with us.
The whole EHRC - "strategic litigation" - Supreme Court loop needs to be looked at because it pinches off a part of law making away from democratic oversight. There must be an evidence base for revising human rights, because there seems to be little or none here.

And her school held an anti-trans discussion while Lia continued to fight for our community

Our community has lost another sister. Her own college hosted a discussion around "The Trans Question" last winter, which only redoubled Lia's efforts to fight for her friends and community. You will be missed more than you could ever know, Lia.

Random takes.

EHRC commissioners should be banned from any outside work including consulting/advisory works

Holding or demonstrating beliefs antithetical to any of the EA protected characteristics should be cause for dismissal from EHRC. Process needs to be clear, published, brutal.
