When not cheering for Amber Heard I cheer for Yuval Abraham and Basel Adra.

I was lucky to study with Asad Haider while we were doing our PhDs at UCSC. I also remember sitting down with him, debating as we inspected used tear gas canisters during Occupy Oakland. He was a brilliant and generous thinker, and the world is far poorer without him.

Peter Watkins has died, one of the greatest and least known and most uncompromising filmmakers, a life well lived fighting power. www.bfi.org.uk/features/pet...
Peter Watkins obituary: radical British filmmaker behind The War Game and Punishment Park
The maverick filmmaker and pioneer of the docudrama, whose anti-establishment works redefined political cinema and challenged the very language of mass media, has died aged 90.

Everyone should listen to Chris Murphy's extraordinary warning about Trump on our pod. First, he says the logic must be that the more lawless he gets, the stiffer the resistance.

"If I give in and consent to these kinds of tactics then it just normalizes it all." 1/

Monopoly and totalitarianism go hand in hand.

The only way to stop the growing censorship of Trump's critics is to fight the consolidation of media outlets into the hands of a few families that do not care about the best interests of the country.

Now that I am home, here are my post-completion thoughts on the #Zcavengerhunt.

First off: it was much more fun than I thought it would be, and that was largely due to how well it was organized, how it encouraged participants to talk to each other, and the spirit of the event.

I just subscribed to the Washington Post for 20€ (a bit more than 20$) a year.

The New York Times is also having a sale until tomorrow, w/ a year's subscription for 20€.

Reading & financing legacy media is not so expensive, and it's intensely useful to you & to democracy.

Ayman Odeh. This requires 90 out of 120 votes. Problem is, the so-called centrist 'Opposition' (Lapid's Yesh Atid party, Gantz's Blue&White party) has been supporting the Netanyahu govt on this. They need to know the world is watching.
